MON 810 is Genetically Engineered Corn
MON 810 and MON 863 are engineered to synthesize two different Bt toxins used as insecticides.
There is a world-wide debate concerning the safety and regulatory approval process of genetically modified (GM) crops and foods. In order to scientifically address this issue, it is necessary to have access to toxicological tests, preferably on mammals, performed over the longest time-scales involving detailed blood and organ system analyses.
I urge anyone concerned about Genetically Engineered Corn to read a report published by the International Journal of Biological Sciences
The document (link below) is an account of a thorough if not exhaustive testing period. One that used many of the very same methods used by Monsanto to do their own test’s. The test were performed on mammals (lab rats) and in cases were Monsanto’s methods were not used, I concluded that there was insufficient measurement power used in Monsanto’s tests so the IJBS scientist’s had to set testing parameters that were more appropriate to get accurate results.
It’s a great report and again, everyone should check it out.
